After careful consideration the MSC GP and Sailing Committees met on Thursday evening (via conference call) to agree our approach over the coming weeks.
We are sure everybody has been following the latest news and guidance regarding Coronavirus and the restrictions necessary in order to delay its spread.
With immediate effect all scheduled events including
· Sunday racing,
· Open meetings,
· Saturday social sailing,
· Clubhouse events
· Use of kitchen and scheduled bar opening
Will be suspended for at least 4 weeks, provisionally restarting on April 12th (although it may be later than this).
· The current race series will be ended now.
· The lake remains open and available for use subject to the usual club bylaws and hence if a group wishes to meet informally and use the lake they are welcome to do so, however no safety cover will be provided.
The clubhouse will be available to use however members are requested to change at home and generally make minimal use of club facilities to avoid risk of spreading infection.
Membership renewal is due by the end of this month and we encourage members to continue to support MSC and re-join. Exercise and fresh air is good for everyone and normal activities will resume once the current crisis has passed. In addition to the many opportunities to get afloat at MSC we have exciting plans for the future including clubhouse improvements and need your support in order to realise these ideas.
We will be reviewing the situation on a fortnightly basis and will share more details as they become available.
Members should adhere to government/NHS advice and anybody feeling unwell or has been in contact with somebody that is unwell should stay away from the club.
Thanks you all for your continued support and please stay safe.
