Night Sail 20th September -POSTPONED

Due to potential high winds on Thursday for safety reasons this has now been postponed to the 27th September. This includes Thursday Evening Series prize giving.
MSC Annual Night Sail for the "Golden Carrot"
This Thursday 20 September 2018, 7.30pm Start - Handicap race

Join us for our annual Night sailing in the dark this Thursday, 20 September, race starts at 19.30!
In previous years we have had boats decorated with fairy lights and some joyous singing from boats at the back of the fleet. It is a great fun evening.
We will have our Thursday Evening Race Series Prize giving after our Night Race with our bar open and food available to purchase (see Key details below).
Key details
- Entry Fee £1.50 cash to pay for red and green glow sticks.
- Need your boats rigged before 19.15.
- Bring a torch for use after the race (only) to help you de-rig your boat.
- Thursday Evening Race Series Prize giving after our Night Race.
- Fish & Chips available to purchase - must be paid for before race start please.
- Suggest you bring warm sailing clothing for the race with a change of clothing.
**Asks - we need volunteers to help us run the race - qualified boat drivers & helpers please.

MAIDENHEAD SAILING CLUB INVITED YOU TO OUR OPEN DAY - MONDAY 7TH MAY
Preparations for the Open Day are in full swing at Maidenhead Sailing Club!
Come along for a sail (no experience required), a slice of homemade cake and a chance to chat to our members on Monday 7th May from 12 to 4pm.
We are a friendly, family club in the heart of Maidenhead
Offering :-
- Relaxed social sailing every Saturday from April through September,
- Racing every Sunday morning throughout the year (unless the lake is frozen!),
- An active Youth and Junior section,
- Thursday evening sailing from April to September
- Ladies and novice racing on 2nd Saturday afternoon of the month.
If you are unable to visit us on Bank Holiday Monday, please drop us an email and we will be delighted to arrange a visit on another day. New members join us throughout the year.

Informal Training Sessions Start on 29t April

Sunday Afternoon Informal Coaching starts on Sunday 29th April about 1:00pm. This takes place after the main Sunday racing, and carries on until the end of July Some members have already put their names down to help here and details of specific training items will be on the training notice board shortly. If there is anything you require ask any member of the Sailing Committee who will be only to happy to assist.
These include the following topics:
- Introduction to Racing
- Upwind sailing and the five essentials
- Starting Techniques
- Wind shifts and Bends. Pointing verses Speed
- Mark rounding and mast rake
- Coming alongside a rescue boat
- Back to basics
There is now a sheet on the training notice board. If you have not already emailed your likely attendance to some or all, please feel free to sign up on the sheets for any appropriate sessions you require.
Laser Training Day 28th April 2018

There will be 2 sessions as below...
Session 1 – 09.30-11.00 Refresher
Aimed at people who have a basic dinghy sailing skills who may have not sailed Lasers or not sailed dinghies for a period of time...want to improve their basic skills & cover some/all of the 5 essentials – Balance, Rigging, Course, Sail setting, Trim. Group size – up to 5 people.
Note - We need 2 Laser sailor volunteers to help rig the club boats & support please.
Session 2 – 11.15-16.00 Upskilling for immediate to advanced Laser sailors
Aimed at people who have good dinghy sailing skills...typically want to improve their racing skills. Group size – just 5 places left.
Full cash payment required in advance to Gavin for the training & Club laser boat hires to secure your place. The training costs cover Traing fees, fuel, teas & coffees. Open to MSC members only.
Club Lasers to hire - 1 laser race kit spec left to hire on 28 April session 2
We now have 2 club Lasers with racing kit to hire for a charge for the above & other days....+ 1 basic laser kit boat.
Please ensure you pay the hire fee to the bar, ensure the boat & equipment is all put back neatly & kept clean.
