Welcome

Maidenhead Sailing Club offers a warm welcome to new members. Come and sail on our 51 acre lake with fine views over open country side.  We offer sailing every week of the year with a full season of events for you to join in.  We are a family friendly club with a strong junior section. Sail your own boat or hire one of the club's boat, we have over 20 to choose from to suit all abilities.

Youth and Junior Sailing Starts 4th Oct

The Winter 08/09  Junior Training Series will be starting on Saturday 4th October.    All Junior members are welcome, as are their parents to assist with running the sessions.

Albacore Scottish Champions

After winning the Butler Cup for the Albacore fleet at Swanage regatta the previous weeked, John Woffinden swapped crews and travelled north of the border with Ali Hendry, to take part in the Combined Albacore Scottish National Championships and the European Championships in Largs (near Glasgow) in a fleet of 21 Albacores.

Tom Weeks - World Championship Result

Tom Weekes has been campaigning his Topper at various open meetings culminating with the World Championships in Tralee Bay, Ireland where he was one of 176 Topper helms to race at the event.  Tom finsihed the week 1st in the Silver fleet despite gear failure in the early races.

Optimist Open Meeting 24th May 2008

Optimist Open Meeting 2008Maidenhead Sailing Club held its 2008 Optimist Open on Saturday 24th May. The Open attracted entries from as far afield as Norfolk. With so many competitors and their families expected, Maidenhead Sailing Club members rallied round to organise breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea for more than a hundred and fifty people.

Learn To Sail in 2008

Learn to sail at Maidenhead Sailing ClubEven in you have never been in a dinghy before, we can teach you to sail at Maidenhead Sailing Club.  Our RYA Level 1 and Level 2 courses are suitable for those without any sailing experience, or those who have perhaps done some sailing but want a refresher course or to get their RYA qualifications.  RYA certificates are recognized around the world and will allow you to hire a sailing dinghy whilst on holiday perhaps.

Solo Open Meeting 2008

Maidenhead Sailing Club Solo Open 2008Maidenhead sailing club hosted the 2nd open meeting in the Solo Thames Valley Series on Saturday 19th April. 10 visitors and 6 home boats took part.

Weather conditions were far improved on those experienced in the first Thames valley open meeting at Littleton, where 2 inches of snow fell all over the South East of England. At Maidenhead, we had grey skies, 10 degrees and variable and shifting winds between 10mph and 16 mph.

This set the stage for some very close racing with each race being won by a different helm.

Albacore Open Meeting - Sun 13 April

Albacore OpenThe Maidenhead SC kicked off the Albacore Open meeting season with a training session on Saturday 12th April and the Open meeting racing on Sunday 13th. 20 boats took part from all over the country.

The Spring 2008 Signal Newsletter is now available for download in the downloads section.  The documents is formated for printing on A4 paper to make an A5 booklet.

12 foot skiffThe Thursday evening socials continue with a Junior evening on the 27th March where our Junior sailors will be sharing their experiences this season.

On Thursday 2rd April there will be a talk on the exhilarating 12 foot skiffs, with a chance to examine one in the car park and view films of races around the world.

Thursday night racing then starts on Thursday 10th April.

Laser Open Meeting - Sat 22 March

Maidenhead Laser Open Meeting 2008The first Maidenhead Open Meeting of the 2008 season was held on Easter Saturday.

Weather conditions were marginal with force 5, gusty winds throughout the day. This made sailing difficult enough, but there were three or four occasions where squalls of driving sleet and force 6 gusts made the racing very exciting - some would say scary!
