With an brisk easterly wind measuring 2/4 in strength which was more than forecast, 25 boats lined up for the morning 30min short pursuit. The first leg was the whole length of the lake from mark "C" to mark "I". After a good beat the Miracle of James Gladwyn and children got around the first mark first followed by Barry Wicks (Solo), John Hirsh (Solo) and Ian Stone (Comet). The remainder of the course was a mixture of runs and reaches with 3 gybe marks.

The race was eventually won by Barry Wicks closely followed by John Woffinden and Dee Thomas in the Albacore. With the sun now shinning the individual classes lined up for their starts with the Albacores going off first, followed by the Lasers, Solo's and Menagerie.
