Maidenhead Sailing Club Open Day

Hundreds of Maidenhead residents spent their May Bank Holiday Monday messing about in boats at the annual Maidenhead Sailing Club open day.

MSC welcomed young and old to try their hand at sailing during the annual open day.  Children sailed on Summerleaze lake in small easy to handle craft called Optimist and Topaz boats.

Adults went out with experienced club members in two-person boats called Albacores and GP14s.  About 700 people attended the open day, many of whom had never tried sailing before.  The visitors also enjoyed a barbecue with face painting for the children.  Commodore Alan Dibble said the open day was a good way of showing people what sailing is all about and increasing club membership.

He said: "It's a very friendly club and the open day familiarizes people with how pleasant sailing can be.  It's gone amazingly well."
