Alex Lloyd & Jack Moore win RYA West Zone Championships. The West Zone Mirror title was taken by Alex Lloyd & Jack Moore, with 5 wins.
On the Saturday afternoon, racing started with an all fleets raft race/swimming in the bright sunshine, followed unexpectedly for some, by sailing 2 races grabbed late afternoon into the twilight, held in light & shifty conditions. Lloyd & Moore, battled places with Mathew & Ben Lulham-Robinson, throughout, but the Nat’ squad pair prevailed, to take the lead overnight.
Sunday, dawned with a still light but steady wind and drizzle. Race 3 was again taken by Lloyd & Moore, who initially had to battle hard to get clear of the Lulham-Robinson boys. Race 4 was taken again by Lloyd & Moore, and as the wind increased to approaching 10 knots followed by the ever improving Nicky Haigh & Will Nickson. In race 5, Lloyd & Moore wrapped it up with another win, followed by the Lulham Robinson pairing, and in third Oliver White & William Hide. The final race was taken by the Lulham-Robinson boys, Lloyd & Moore, letting a perfect scorecard slip with a second, Rory Nicholl & Lily Charlesworth came through to take a third.

Escritts win at home. Yorkshire Dales held its Mirror Open meeting on the 6th of September. Visitors from as far as Brighligsea and Blithfield attended and were greeted by a warm force two to three . The first race was a close affair with five different leaders but it was the Home club boat of Callum Escritt crewed by Dad Ian who took the bullet from a fast finishing Alex Lloyd and Jack Moore who passed David Moore and Matthew Escritt just before the line. Race two started in an increasing breeze which suited some of the more experienced crews Alex/Jack took the win David/Matt 2nd and Philip Benn/William Hide 3rd . Callum/Ian took a short dip to cool off much to the amusment of the other competitors. The event hung on the last race with several potential winners. The race was very close all the way round and it was Callum/Ian who crossed the line ahead of Alex/Jack who held off the ever improving Matthew and Ben Lulham Robinson. National Junior Squad Selection. The Inlands this weekend are the last of the selection series for the RYA National Junior Squad and essential that all applicants are present, particularly as the number of races from the first two selction events has been greatly reduced due to the poor weather. Alex Lloyd and Jack Moore win at Hill Head. The Zone Squad pair saw off top competition in a 26 strong fleet to win their first open and with it the Southern Traveller Series. In second place National Squad members Hugo Sloper and Emma Spruce, with Hal and Johnny Miller third. Generous support from Crewsaver, Optimum Time, Ronstan and Musto saw some great prizes won in the Traveller Series, after Alex and Jack, father and daughter David and Emma Gough from Lymington second, and Isabel McParland (12) and Grace Yeoman (10) third overall.
